Boats are great when they are on the water; sitting on land in need of repairs, not so much.

The first-rate service department at SouthWinds Marina offers a full range of services to make sure your boat spends more time on the water than in the shop.

Whether new or used, if your boat needs regular maintenance or major repairs, our team of highly qualified, experienced and certified marine technicians is available year-round to meet all your mechanical needs. The technicians at SouthWinds Marina understand you would much rather be boating so they will do all they can to get you back on the water as soon as possible.

Our chief mechanic, Kelly Brewster, is Mercury certified and stays up-to-date on the latest marine technology. Kelly also is trained on Mercury Marine’s MercNet diagnostic system, which allows him to plug his computer into a port on a Mercury motor and quickly diagnose the problem.

In addition to being well-versed in the Mercury analytics computer, Kelly also has the good ol’ farm boy sense to be able to work on older two-stroke engines. From basic oil changes to specific propellers and powerheads, Kelly and his team can find a solution to your engine’s issues.

Some of the additional services and features our service department can provide include:

• Boat Valet— We will retrieve your boat from storage and tie to a short-term boat slip, as well as remove the boat from the water and place back into storage.
• Boat Wash — Boat and equipment are pressure washed prior to storage. This service is recommended to all boaters.
• Service Checks — We’ll check fluids and electronics for proper levels and operation so you can boat worry free.
• Winterization — We can prepare your boat for the winter months of storage.
• De-winterization — We’ll prepare and test your boat for use on the lake.
• Equipment, Fish Finder and Accessory Installation — Our skilled technicians can install whatever equipment, fish finder or other accessory you want or need on your boat, including trolling motors, depth finders and new or used propellers.
• Exterior Acidizing — We spray the exterior of the boat with an acid solution to get it clean.

Our winterization and de-winterization services are available at our Bernice location or we can come to you and provide these services at your private dock.

And, if SouthWinds Marina doesn’t have the needed parts in stock, we can usually obtain them within 24 hours through our computer ordering network.

Our hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or by appointment.

You can call us at (918) 256-8650 and make an appointment for service or drop your water craft off at our Bernice facility. We are located on Horse Creek on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees at 28227 S. 4535 Road, in Bernice.
